how do we value coral?

Corals Are A CRITCAL ECOSYSTEM

IT IS DIFFICULT TO PUT A PRICE ON AN IRREPLACEABLE ECOSYSTEM, BUT WE WILL HAVE A GO!

WHY INVEST IN CORAL

Coral reefs have a global economic value of $375 billion per year.

Coral Credit Certified – Aligning your Business

An important aspect of our added value undertaking, is the opportunity it gives for informed companies and corporates to align their operations and brands with an environmentally and socially responsible program.

  • Responsible ports can participate when 1 CORAL CREDIT is purchased for each ship movement. They can accumulate CREDITS for trade or for future use.
  • Cruise ship operators can participate by adding 1/10th of a CORAL CREDIT to every passenger booking.
  • Small business owners and operators (such as tourism, boating, fishing, diving) who base their ventures on the oceans can participate by adding 1/10th of a
          CORAL CREDIT to every booking.
  • Corporates (such as sunscreen brands) can align themselves in support of coral and market a contribution from every sale.
  • Friends and participants who enjoy the ocean can make voluntary contributions or operate social awareness and fundraising drives.

By way of example, during the construction of the Gorgon Gas Project, Chevron Corporation received permission to kill and not replace 3% of all the coral on the east side of Barrow Island.

The proponents of the Anketell Port Development have been granted permission to destroy 16-hectares of coral in the creation of this port. Coral Futures Corporation’s proposed coral farm will be a long-term replacement of the lost coral infrastructure.

Companies can proudly share this information with the public though Coral Certified Credits.
